“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?”

- Marianne Williamson

Who We Are

In 1999, the Pearls of Service Foundation was incorporated as a non-profit organization serving communities in southeastern Michigan. Our vision was simple but ambitious: to enhance the lives of women and minorities in our community.

What We Do

The Pearls of Service Foundation, through its programming and grant making, seeks to address the systemic barriers preventing minority women and children from reaching their full economic and educational opportunities.  The Foundation works to ameliorate the societal inequities facing families in marginalized communities.  Through funding college scholarships, elementary through high school educational enrichment programs, and family strengthening efforts, the Foundation, with the assistance of our Community Partners, seeks to level the playing field for under-served residents in our community. Some of the Foundation’s Programs include:

  • Family Strengthening: Annually providing food, clothing, school supplies and academic-related programs to enhance the lives of children and families in need
  • Educational Attainment: Awarding annual college scholarships under the AKATeen and Pearls of Service Scholarship programs. Over $100,00 has been awarded

Executive Board

The Foundation's Board of Directors is made up professionals and experts in the fields of education, banking, law, health care, non-profits and management, among others.  The members of this volunteer Board bring expertise that focuses our programs and provides us with tentacles in the business, government and philanthropic communities that help us deliver.
